The charges are said to be triable in the GCM under Section 114 of the AFA Cap A20 LFN 2004 and punishable under Section 91(1) of the Penal Code Cap P89 LFN 2004. The soldiers to face trial today include; Andrew Ogolekwu, Saturday Efa, Henry Shaibu, James Maifada, Ndubuisi Sabestine, Dauda Dalhatu, Kasega Aoso, Mallam Jacob, Nwonu Friday, Joshua Friday, Anthony Simeon, Olayode Oluwasegun, Tijani Jimoh, Kabiru Abubakar, Mamud Sywasan, James Emmanuel, Mulaika Musa, Magaji Amadu, Amao Bukola, Wuyep John, Oti Kelvin, Ameh Mathew, Olaitan Joseph and others. Meanwhile a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Godwin Obla, is working towards appealing the death sentence handed to some of the 12 soldiers on September 12th. The Senior Advocate in a telephone interview with Punch however said the inability of the military to disclose the whereabouts of the sentenced soldiers to him is stalling the process of the appeal as they are needed to sign some document before he can go further with their appeal. "We have been trying to get them (the soldiers) to sign for the process; and because we have not been able to get them, we have not been able to complete the process; there are things for them to sign. Nobody has been able to tell us where they are being kept; nobody is volunteering information; nobody has been able to tell us where they are. We are just hearing that they have been moved to the Directorate of Military Intelligence Cell in Lagos. We will make the move so that the process would be filed on their behalf.” he said Source: Punch

How 3-Year Old’s Body Parts Saved 5 Adults After Death
A three-year-old Chinese girl, who died of a brain tumour, has helped save the lives of five other persons when her heart, liver, kidneys and corneas were donated. The donor, Liu Jingyao, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour earlier this year after she was observed walking unsteadily. Her parents visited multiple hospitals in several cities, but each doctor said the condition was terminal. The girl's head swelled and she began to have trouble speaking, eventually becoming confined to bed.
Her father, Liu Xiaobao, had a difficult time discussing the possibility of donating her organs to other members of the family especially her mother. "The word 'donation' was difficult for her to understand, so I tried to explain that if we would give something from her body, she could save the lives of others. She agreed to this," said Xiaobao. The girl's physical condition deteriorated earlier last week and she died on September 23 in the People's Hospital of Jiangxi Province in east China. Her organs were soon removed for transplantation. "She was too young and some of the organs were very small. But we were able to transplant her kidneys into one patient. Her heart, liver and corneas were given to four other patients, respectively," said doctor Zhang Ming. Doctors said the five recipients were in stable condition, indicating that the transplants were successful. Sad Xiaobao said to his deceased daughter, "You lit up five people's lives. You are the most beautiful princess in the world."

$9.3m arms deal scandal: Oritsejafor breaks silence, says I have no hand in it
The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday broke his silence over the $9.3m arms deal scandal in which his private jet was used to carry the huge sum of money out of Nigeria to South Africa. Speaking at the National Executive Council meeting of CAN at the National Christian Center in Abuja, Pastor Oritsejafor absolved himself of any wrong doing, saying he would never do anything that would tarnish the image of Jesus Christ
"I wish to assure you that I will not do anything to tarnish the image of Jesus Christ or compromise the divine standard of the church. As you are all aware, the media has been awashed in the past few days about an unfortunate incident involving the movement of funds from Nigeria to South Africa. In the unfortunate news reports, attempts have been made to link me directly with the transaction. So far, I have refrained from making any direct public response pending the time that I would have briefed the leaders of the church and explained my position on the issues to them.

TB Joshua In Trouble-- Another Journalist Says TB Joshua Tried To Bribe Him (Photo)
Ruben Kruger, a veteran of 36 tests in the green and gold, returned after a week in Nigeria and declared that a Pentecostal preacher he called the Prophet had healed his brain cancer. Temitope Balogun “TB” Joshua prayed for him in the Synagogue Church of All Nations compound while thousands of people sang, danced and wailed, Kruger said. As Joshua bent over him and implored the demon to be gone from his body, Kruger felt the tumour leaving him. He was cured, Joshua declared, handing him oil to rub on his head. “I no longer have to drink my chemo pills,” Kruger said on his return. “You cannot describe the feeling to anyone who has not experienced it. It was an unbelievable – or should I say believable – experience." The floodgates opened and the Prophet’s newest converts were white, mostly Afrikaans and relatively conservative. They swopped the NG and Hervormde churches for a Nigerian “turn-or-burn” approach to redemption. It took me some time to understand why the Afrikaner psyche found Joshua so irresistible. Why were they prepared to seek salvation in a country they perceived to be drowning in greed, political rot and economic decay? Christianity Nigerian-style was worlds apart from the chains and shackles of Calvinism. Joshua unchained them. He allowed them to worship with a gusto and fervour previously thought unseemly. That the new messiah was black and his church in Africa’s biggest and maddest metropolis only added to the allure. A year or two after Kruger returned from Lagos, I made the same journey. On the plane was another Springbok rugby player, 25-year-old lock Wium Basson, who was dying of liver cancer. He was accompanied by his mother, Cloeté Geldenhuys, and had to get special permission from SAA to make the journey. I was making a TV documentary and my challenge to Joshua was straightforward: allow me to film how you heal Basson. If you succeed, I promise I will show it to the world. When we arrived at Joshua’s compound, the TV team and I were in effect incarcerated. For two weeks, we were forbidden to leave the grounds. We were told we could not drink or smoke, and had to attend services and events with the pilgrims. While I stayed in a dormitory with other pilgrims, Wium and Cloeté set up camp in a private room. The church took away the young man’s morphine and pain pills. During our first interview, a softly spoken, affable Joshua said it would be easy to heal Wium because he had nothing but a “little sore” on his liver. At Sunday sermons, the afflicted lined up with placards stating what condition they needed healed.

'We won't plead for the 12 soldiers sentenced to death' - Senate
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Thompson Sekibo has said that members of the Senate will not be intervening on the death verdict handed to 12 soldiers for mutiny by a military court on September 16th. Senator Sekibo who spoke with journalists after a closed-door meeting between the senate committee on Defence and the Service Chiefs at the National Assembly in Abuja yesterday September 23rd, said the verdict of the military court is meant to instill discipline into the military. "No we are not, because the Armed Forces are established by an Act of the National Assembly. The Act spelt out categorically the conduct of the soldiers and the way they are to behave wherever they are. If you join the military, that Act is to guide you and your conduct. If you go contrary to any of the prescribed sections of the Act the punishment prescribed for the Act you violated will come on you. So the military did not just wake up one day and say that they are going to kill Mr. A or Mr. B.

How Boko Haram leader, Shekau was set up & eventually killed by Nigerian Army
You must have heard the dreaded Boko Haram impostor and Commander has been reportedly killed in a fierce gun battle in Borno State. While there are conflicting reports on who killed him,(Cameroon claims they killed him but that report has been refuted by the Nigerian Defence Headquaters)many believe he is indeed the one in the photo and it marks a major victory in the fight against Boko Haram. Many insurgents reportedly surrendered to the Nigerian army after learning of the death of their leader .. A new investigative report by Vanguard reveals how he was killed Vanguard gathered that when the first attack on Konduga whereby hundreds of insurgents were taken unawares and killed after over seven hours of fighting and several of their colleagues, arms and ammunition captured, the military commanders strategically urged his captured members to send a message to Shekau that they (insurgents) have routed the troops. Before the captured insurgents were urged to make the contact and deliver the message, the military commanders had promised them that their cooperation would play a role in the level of punishment to be meted to them after the battle hence they felt reassured. Also, the captured insurgents had disclosed that Shekau usually moved in a convoy of cars painted in military colours while he sits in a MOWAG Armoured tank with Boko Haram inscription on its front. When Shekau was contacted, his captured men spoke to him in Arabic, assuring him that they had taken over Konduga, thereby giving him the all clear to proceed from Sambisa Forest. To convince him further, a set of his men captured were told to sing the victory song in Kanuri language they normally sing at the background. Having convinced himself that the messenger was his chief courier in such situation and the message is authentic, he and his followers made for Konduga, heavily armed with Anti-Aircraft weapons, General Purpose Machine Guns, several AK 47 rifles and other IEDS’. However, on entering Konduga town, he and his followers were encircled by strategically placed and heavily armed Nigerian soldiers. Immediately he contacted the messenger and discovered that something was amiss, he ordered his followers to start shooting in all direction. This spurred the Army Commanders to give the directive to open fire. When he discovered that the fire power of the Nigerian Army who used both Infantry and Artillery weaponry was overpowering that of his men, he jumped out of the MOWAG and made to escape. But eagle-eyed Nigerian Soldiers spotted him and opened fire in him, shattering his legs in the process. It was learnt that he also received bullet wounds in other parts of his body leading to his bleeding to death. Recall that Military sources had on Sunday night disclosed that Nigerian troops scored a strategic victory in the current battle against terrorists operating in the North East on September 17. The sources noted that during a desperate attempt to capture Konduga in their delusion to eventually marching on and capturing Maiduguri, the man who had been mimicking Late Abubakar Shekau in recent videos was feared to have been finally killed. The sources said, “It is getting more certain that the terrorists’ Commander who has been mimicking Shekau in those videos is the one killed in Konduga on September 17, 2014.” Affirming the development, PRNigeria sources said the suspected demise of the Boko Haram leader is responsible for the scattering of the sect members in different independent locations in the neighbouring countries, especially in Cameroon noticed in recent days. The security sources noted further that “the process of confirming that the dead body we have is the same as that character who has been posing as Shekau is ongoing” adding “He is definitely a prominent terrorist commander. I don’t want to say anything about this yet please.” Another high ranking military source insisted that the resemblance is too striking to be a coincidence. “They cited his facial marks, beards and teeth apart from the recovery by the Nigerian troops of some of the Armoured Vehicles and Hilux jeeps that had featured in previous videos of the prime suspect. “The officers assured that the Defence Headquarters will soon address the nation after full investigation of their latest discovery”.
Why I published the TB Joshua bribery audio - Nicholas Ibekwe
Nicholas Ibekwe is the journalist who published the audio recording of T.B Joshua offering N50k to journalist to give his church favorable coverage (read here). He took to his blog today to explain why he did it. Find it below
The last 72 hours were probably the most intense in my life. The love, kind words and support I’ve received in that period from, mostly, total strangers have been overwhelming. I want to thank everybody who saw the good in what I did. Though, to be honest, I think it was a little stupid. What was I thinking putting my life and probably my career on the line in an attempt to change something so entrenched it seems unchangeable? But really I’m not fazed by the trash talk from those allergic to the truth

Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan denies using his friend for ritual
This is so silly but some of you might want to read it. Ghanaian star and former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan has been bizarrely accused of having a hand in the death of his friend, Ghanaian rapper Castro. Some people in Ghana are accusing Gyan of using Castro for human sacrifice ritual.
In July, Theophilus Tagoe, popularly known as Castro, went missing while on holiday with Gyan and other friends. The musician was presumed to have drowned in a jet ski accident, but his body was never found which led to the allegations against the striker, with his family constantly being hounded by Ghanaian press. The football star (pictured left) and his family have denied having a hand in what happened but the accusations are refusing to go away because of the lack of a body.

Photos-- Man Stabs Another Man to Death in Public over Wife
A Chinese man who was convinced his wife was having an affair, ended the imagined love-triangle by stabbing his innocent ‘rival’ to death in the street.DailyMail reports that Qin Han, 39, believed his wife Du, 33, was sleeping with a colleague and went to her workplace to confront her. After spotting Du with the man he believed was her lover as they left the building, he attacked him with a knife, leaving him in a pool of blood.
According to neighbours, Mr and Mrs Qin had been arguing for months over his suspicions that she was cheating on him. And after a particularly violent row at their home in the city of Xinxiang in central China’s Henan province, the father-of-two had decided to go to her work to ‘find proof’.
When he saw the man, known only as Mr Zhao, leaving the building with his wife, Mr Qin confronted the pair of them in the street and a heated row followed, local news reports.
He refused to accept Mr Zhao's insistence that he was certainly not having an affair with his wife, and his
denials only enraged Mr Qin. When he turned to walk away, Mr Qin pulled out a knife and launched a furious attack on Mr Zhao, stabbing him repeatedly and leaving the man on the street. Although police were called when they arrived the man was already dead, lying in a pool of blood, and a blood-stained Mr Qin was sitting on the floor in front of his tearful wife.
An eyewitness said:
‘The man was just sitting there, not making any attempt to escape when the police arrived. His wife was hysterical, she was shouting at him and saying "What am I supposed to do now? He seemed in contrast really quiet. He said: “Take care of our kids, this is not on you”
