Buhari Can Cancel Power Privatisation - NERC Boss

The chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Sam Amadi, has said that there is the possibility that the incoming government of General Muhammadu Buhari can undo the privatisation of the power sector. Amadi who stated this during an interview in his office in Abuja, in response to the question whether such was possible, said: “Everything is possible; there’s no impossibility with government to, through due process or through extra-legal actions, reverse any policy or decision.”
The NERC chairman explained that a government that comes into power has a responsibility for making policies, in which regard, it can change existing policy, review existing policy or vigorously pursue existing policy. Amadi further explained that every government is at liberty to decide what should be its dominant economic philosophy; he. However, added that whatever philosophy adopted will definitely have a trickle-down effect on other policy areas, especially a sector as significant as power.
He said: “To undo privatisation could mean using the existing framework to rewind; for example, there are clauses in the agreements signed by the Distribution Companies (Discos) who bought the assets, of things that could happen in which they can pull out if they are no longer satisfied, or which government can pull out with cost. “So from a legal point of view, there’s due process for undoing. The other one is extra-legal, maybe, some kind of nationalization; it’s still theoretically possible in today’s world for government to nationalize privately owned assets.”
However, Amadi noted that such decisions may be followed by consequences some of which can be financial or legal, with some possibly having serious fundamental impact on the economy and social wellbeing.
Speaking further, Amadi maintained that from his understanding of the two major political parties, their policies are line with the framework of the national electric power policy issued in 2,000 by the PDP-led government which is clearly premised on privatisation and securing the financial viability of the sector as a way of improving power supply by sustaining investments.
“The national electric power policy is a sound policy but can be reviewed; that will mean there are certain things we didn’t factor. Year 2,000 to date is over a decade, so there are new insights as to how things should work. We have seen how institutions work or fail to work and this means that there’s nothing wrong in government reviewing the reform process in terms of going back to the founding documents and doing some forensic.
“Find out what policies have been completed, what are we learning from the already undertaken process? How do we make the process better and what should we not undertake? It’s not just about undoing privatisation because privatisation in itself is not a problem,” he said.

Gov Fayose to know fate @Supreme Court today

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state will today know his fate as the Supreme court will be delivering judgement on the petition filed by the APC challenging his victory at the June 21 2014 governorship election. APC in its petition, had alleged that unlawful use of soldiers, intimidation of its supporters and compromised ballot papers were used to achieve his victory at last year's elections. The APC had lost in an earlier petition at the Ekiti state Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on December 19, 2014 which upheld Governor Fayose’s victory. A dissatisfied APC approached the Supreme court for further hearing on the matter. Meanwhile tension has reportedly gripped the state as both party supporters are awaiting the outcome of the supreme court judgement today.

GGI Sets Agenda For Buhari On Steady Power

Good Governance Initiative (GGI), a steady power advocacy group, has congratulated the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on his victory at the March 28 presidential election.
The group also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat. In a statement signed by its National President and CEO of Blue Diamond Group, China, Mr. Festus Mbisiogu, the GGI urged the incoming administration to improve on the electricity reform of President Jonathan by unbundling the power sector, which would increase power supply if the generation and distribution companies were given time line within which to deliver uninterrupted power supply to Nigerians.
The group described lack of steady power as the bane of the country’s development. It wondered why at this time of the nation’s history, 80 per cent of economic activities were depended on generators as an alternative source of power supply. The GGI advised Buhari not to change the privatisation of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), but look into the challenges faced by the new owners and assist them to provide uninterrupted electricity supply. The group believed that if Buhari fixed the power sector, 70 per cent of the expectation of Nigerians would have been met. It noted that lack of steady power had continued to pose severe challenges to the growth of Small Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the country, which had caused high rate of unemployment.
The group tasked the president-elect to as matter of urgency woo companies such as PZ, Unilever, Dunlop, Michelin and Volkswagen to return to Nigeria, noting that these companies closed shop because of power interruption and left for Ghana and South Africa.

Jonathan Mours Tamuno, Former VC UI

President Goodluck Jonathan has commiserated with the Tamuno family of Okrika and the people of Rivers State on the death of former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Emeritus Professor Tekena Tamuno He described the deceased as one of the famous sons of Rivers State, one of the country’s most renowned historians and a first-rate intellectual and academic who stood out for many years.
In a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, Jonathan said Prof. Tamuno would be long remembered and honoured for his very significant contributions to national development over several decades. “The Nigerian nation, the president notes, particularly owes the departed professor a huge debt of gratitude for his immense efforts in helping to document the history of the country’s foundation, growth and development for posterity. “As they mourn the former president of the Nigerian Academy of Letters, President Jonathan urges his family, friends, associates and generations of students, within and outside the country, to also give thanks to God for his long and very fulfilled life of shining and enduring accomplishments,” the statement said.
“The president prays that God will comfort all who mourn Professor Tamuno and grant his gentle soul eternal rest,” the statement said.

Finally Chibok Girls Have Been Found

The schoolgirls abducted from Chibok community by Boko Haram insurgents were reportedly seen alive, according to a report by BBC.
More than 50 of the girls abducted by militant Islamists in Nigeria last year were seen alive three weeks ago, a woman has told the BBC. She saw the girls in the north-eastern Gwoza town before the Boko Haram militants were driven out of there by regional forces. Boko Haram kidnapped 276 girls from their school in the remote town of Chibok, in Borno state, northeastern Nigeria, on the evening of April 14 last year. Fifty-seven managed to escape soon afterwards but the remainder have not been seen since an appearance in a Boko Haram video in May last year. Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has claimed they have all converted to Islam and been “married off”.

Iam not promising Nigeria The Return of Chibok Girl, GMB

President-elect, Gen Muhammadu Buhari says his incoming government cannot promise the return of missing Chibok girls but that they would do everything within their power to secure their return. He said this in a statement he released today April 13th to commemorate one year of the girls' abduction. The statement below... Today is a time to reflect on the pain and suffering of the victims, their friends and families. Our thoughts and prayers, and that of the whole Nigerian Nation, are with you today. I want to assure all of them, and particularly the parents, that when my new Administration takes office at the end of May, we will do everything we can to defeat Boko Haram. We will act differently from the Government we replace: we hear the anguish of our citizens and intend to respond accordingly.
This new approach must also begin with honesty. We do not know if the Chibok girls can be rescued. Their whereabouts remain unknown. As much as I wish to, I cannot promise that we can find them. But I say to every parent, family member and friend of the children that my Government will do everything in its power to bring them home. What I can pledge, with absolute certainty, is that starting on the first day of my Administration Boko Haram will know the strength of our collective will and commitment to rid this nation of terror, and bring back peace and normalcy to all the affected areas. Boko Haram” means “Western Education is Sinful”. When they are defeated militarily, as they will be, we will ensure our citizens in the affected areas have improved educational opportunities as a direct counterbalance to Boko Haram’s twisted ideology. In particular we will educate ever more young girls ensuring they are empowered as citizens of Nigeria. Let us use this anniversary to remind each other that the attack on Chibok was an attack on the dreams and aspirations of our young people. We stand united in our pledge to resist terror in Nigeria– not just through military means but also through the power of opportunity and the hope of a better future for all”.

How i plan to rule Nigeria, GMB explain to youths in an official interview

Nigerians more than before have come to realise there challenges with the present leadership of the country from economic to border relations, health and safety, security, food and control, education to mention a few. Before May 28th the political campaign rallies for two heavy weight party candidates were one of Nigerians most competitive ever. From social media attacked coming from both side to traditional media discussions and as they canvass for votes. One of the most striking events however was when Gen Buhari of the APC and President Goodluck of the PDP met in Abuja with Kofi Anan amongst smiles, hugging and heavy laughter. Watching the clip of both men having a happy emotional time would keep you wondering why Nigerians are even fighting at all.
Before now, both parties have accused one another at some point, but nothing sits more than to hear from the horse’s mouth which is why www.iamchangeng.org, an NGO which believes in empowering disenfranchised Nigerians and financially supporting youth growth and development took time out to speak to the General before the general elections on youth empowerment, insurgency, security and more. Malama Hafsatu Shinkafi, Founder of I am change got a rare one on one with the General and this is what he had to say: · My leadership and government of the APC will not be left to a few, it will be inclusive.
· We will improve on agriculture and mining as this will help combat unemployment. · We will develop a system of education that employs only qualified teachers. · We will improve and increase support for entrepreneurs through foundation institutions and soft loans so they too can employ others.
· In the area of health, child labour we will introduce think tanks at all levels to swiftly address the challenging issues.
· As for security in the Nation, all security forces will be strengthened and quickly imorived. Malama Hafsatu Shinkafi is a young Nigerian who is eager about driving change from where Nigeria is to where it ought to be. www.iamchangeng.org advocates the message of constant self-reflection; the act of looking within to change the vice in one’s character and to further acquire great virtues that will aid in having a better society.

Ministers Slama Ekiti APC Law Makers Over Gov Fayose Impeachment

Directory Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has warned the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its members in Ekiti State to tread cautiously so as not to endanger democracy in the country, saying, “posting notice of impeachment of a State governor online when the House of Assembly never sat to pass any Motion for Impeachment is not only ridiculous, but criminal.” The minister said it was necessary that the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) should call members of APC in Ekiti State to order so that they don’t by their desperation for power in Ekiti State truncate democracy in Nigeria. He said it was disheartening that APC members in Ekiti State were capitalising on Buhari’s victory to cause crisis in the State, adding that, “If President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had behaved the way APC people are behaving in Ekiti State now, the country would have been in chaos by now.”

Church Sets Ablaze By Youths of Village In Kano, Pastor's Daughter Killed

At least one person died, Monday, as irate youths set ablaze Baptist Church at Gidan Maso village in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, while the residence of the pastor, Rev Habila Garba, was also burnt. This came barely a week after unidentified arsonists attacked a branch of Living Faith Church, popularly called Winners Chapel, at Giwa in Kaduna State.
The deceased, one of the pastor’s daughters, was said to have died of suffocation as parts of the house were destroyed by the fire, which resulted from the attack at about 7:30p.m. President of Tarayyar Masihiyawan Nijeria (Hausa, Fulani and Kanuri Christians), General Ishaku Ahmed Dikko (retd), told newsmen yesterday in Abuja that the intention was to kill one youth, Yahaya Joshua, who converted to Islam but later reverted to Christianity. Dikko, in a statement, called on the state government to live up to its statutory responsibility of ensuring protection of lives and property.
Narrating the incident, he said: “The Baptist Church at Gidan Maso village of Rogo Local Government Area in Kano State was set on fire by youths of the village on April 1 at about 7:30p.m. “The church and all the properties were burnt down in the presence of the Christian community despite all pleadings for them to stop the destruction. “The arsonists gathered cornstalks, put them inside the church before setting it ablaze. This made the action to seem deliberate and for ulterior motives. “The Christians present exhibited great Christian qualities by not taking the law into their hands by trying to stop them by force.
“Rather than see reason, the arsonist were infuriated which led to setting the house of the pastor, Rev Habila Garba, ablaze as well. “One of the pastor’s daughters died of suffocation and most parts of the house destroyed. “They also attacked and wounded Bawa Adamu and Aminu Dauda, who received machete cuts leading to broken arms. Others received similar wounds, but of lesser degrees. “The cause of the barbaric act was to kill one youth, Yahaya Joshua, who converted to Islam but later on reverted back to Christianity.
“He had escaped on learning of the plan to kill him. They therefore set the Church and Pastor’s house on fire and went about maiming and wounding any Christian they saw. “The incidence was immediately reported to the Police and the District Head at Rogo. No information has been received about the action taken or if any arrests were made. “However, all the wounded know and can identify their attackers by name since they all belong to the same village. “The Tarayyar Masihiyawan Nigeriya is calling on the authorities to take the necessary steps to stem or stop all these harassments and molestations of innocent Christians for whatever reasons. “We have the right to belong to any religion of our choice and live anywhere in this country. “We call on the authorities at all levels to rise up to their responsibilities to protect lives and properties of every citizen in this country.”

Breaking; Court Stops Dstv From Increasing Subscription Fee.

A Justice of the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos, C J Aneke, has granted an order of interim injunction restraining Multichoice from enforcing its planned increase in cost of the different classes of viewing of its pay TV, DSTV. MultiChoice, owners of DStv and GOtv, had announced a 20 percent price increase for all its satellite pay TV bouquets in Nigeria to take effect from April 1, 2015. According to them, the annual price increase, usually in-line with inflation, is necessary for it to continue offering the best in local and international entertainment to its subscribers. The judge asked parties to maintain status quo in support of the motion ex parte with an affidavit of urgency sworn to by the plantiff. The order read in part: “That an order of interim injunction is hereby granted to the parties to maintain the status quo restraining the 1st defendant (Multichoice/DSTV) from giving effect or enforcing its planned increase in cost of the different classes of viewing or programmes bouquet, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.”
“That an order is hereby granted certifying the plaintiffs’ claim as a class action for themselves as individual subscribers, other corporate subscribers, distributors and retailers of the 1st defendants’ services. “That an order is hereby granted restraining any other person whether individual or corporate from instituting any other action as may be related to the action against the defendant to prevent multiplicity of lawsuits pursuant to the appointment of the plaintiffs in the class action but may instead opt in or out of this action”.
The suit, filed by Adebayo Osasuyi and Oluyinka Oyeniji, DSTV subscribers/customers, at the federal high court registry Ikoyi, Lagos was adjourned to the 16th April 2015 for hearing.

where is patience Jonathan? Has she gone in hidding.

Ever since President Goodluck Jonathan lost his re-election bid, his wife, Patience Jonathan has been incognito and incommunicado. In essence, she has remained unseen and unheard from… since that fateful Saturday when she and her husband voted at their polling unit in Otuoke, Bayelsa State. Although, it is believed that she was present at the Presidential Villa on the day Jonathan conceded defeat to Muhammadu Buhari.
A former government official told Punch newspapers that: “After meeting the President in the new Banquet Hall located within the premised of his office, I also visited the First Lady inside the President’s residence before leaving. She was in high spirit when I met her.”
And that was the last time she was present in the villa and seen in public. Patience Jonathan also failed to attend the Good Friday service held inside the Aso Villa Chapel with the President neither was she seen at the Easter Sunday service in the same chapel.
A Presidency source told Punch that she had travelled to the United Kingdom during the week to attend to some domestic issues. The source said: “She is in UK. She may use the opportunity of the trip to visit her children.” While she remains missing, in some quarters it is believed that she is greatly affected by the defeat of her husband at the polls and as such, finds it hard to show her face in the public domain.
Some others, however, believe that she isn’t convinced that President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, will not come after her and President Jonathan once he is sworn in as President, hence, she decided to abscond before the time approaches.
For now, it remains to be known the true whereabouts of Patience Jonathan

Boko Haram Killed Chibok Girls In Bama – UN Report

Raad Zeid al Hussein, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees official has stated that the over 200 Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by horror Boko Haram sect a year ago may have been slaughtered.
Al Hussein based his comment on the fact that the schoolgirls may have been part of the women who were killed by the terrorists before they escaped from Bama and other towns in Borno State just before the Nigerian army and joint forces from Chad and Niger retaken the lands. Eyewitnesses said that the women were slaughtered by the terrorists to stop them from getting remarried to what they named “infidels” after their escape.
Bring into line with the report on the murder of scores of women; Al Hussein said last week that Bthe militants killed people who were prisoners, comprising women and girls who were taken as “wives” as they fled from advancing forces. Official added that different reports which arrived at his department in Geneva showed “that the recent recovery of territories in northeastern Nigeria has brought to light macabre scenes of mass graves and more obvious signs of killings by Boko Haram.” “These reports include the murder of the wives of combatants, women and girls actually held in slavery,” he said without giving further information. Al Hussein added that the use of children by Boko Haram as “expendable cannon meat” and human bombs could, if confirmed, establish war crimes and crimes against humanity. He also said there are “persistent and credible reports” of serious violations by the Nigerian security forces and other countries in their fight against insurgency, and called for “complete and fully transparent investigations.” This latest report by UNHRC may clarify the mystery adjoining the location of the Chibok girls despite the retake of Gwoza, which was said to be the headquarters of the Boko Haram caliphate, as well as the vanishing of the sect’s leader Abubakar Shekau. Sources in the army over the weekend also said neither the girls nor Shekau had been spotted since the liberation of Gwoza, which was the epicentre of the Boko Haram operations.
The strategic Borno town was recaptured on March 27, Friday, after the successful operation by the Nigerian military. Boko Haram captive, a 56-year-old woman, has recently claimed that the Chibok girls, are being held in Gwoza town. The Chibok schoolgirls were abducted almost one year ago on April 14, 2014. Despite the promises of the government and president their families are still waiting their daughters.

Nick Canone Is Dead Broke

According to a tipster who talked to MediaTakeOut about what is allegedly going on between Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s marriage/divorce, they claim the actor and TV personality is dead broke.
Read below… Nick is broker than a joke. He has some income from his multiple gigs, but he spends so damn much, it doesn’t really matter. A lot of the flossing he does is because of brands lending him sh*t, or him taking out loans. The divorce he wanted is not going his way, and he has considered trying to get back with Mariah more than once. She won’t play ball, though. There was a moment last year, when she was sad and vulnerable, that she wanted to get back with him, and he laughed in her face.
As you might have guessed, he is behind a lot of the negative and questionable Mariah stories. The stories about him trying to get her coins are real, but Mariah is not going to cave. She figures that the past year has been humiliating enough, so she doesn’t care if he leaks sh*t about her. If she ignored that first book about her, then she’ll ignore his sh*t.
My friend can’t confirm whether or not the rumor of Nick having a book deal about his marriage is true, but she doubts it. His divorce agreement prevents him from talking, and if he writes and releases a book, Mariah will get quite a bit of the money he makes from it. It’s not worth it.
He’s still smashing Amber, along with 50-eleven other chicks. Jessica White is only f*cking with him because of the attention she gets. She knows he’s a loser, and will drop him once she finds something better. Howard Stern can. not. stand. Nick. They have to be kept apart on the set of Americas Got Telent, and are only friendly in front of the cameras and other people. Nick was good for talking sh*t about Mariah for Howard’s show while they were married, because Howard is messy and loves bringing people down, but now that they’ve split, he’s lost his value to Howard. Speaking of America’s Got Talent, Mariah got him that gig. She also got him that radio show he once had, along with the reboot of his MTV Wild N’Out show. She spent quite a bit of her celebrity capital to boost him after they got married, and he just used her up.
She’s done. and he will be done without her help. The kids are best with Merriah. Say what you want about her, but she is a devoted mother, and dotes on them a lot. To Nick’s credit, he sees them on a consistent basis.

Pastor Wife Arrested In Akwa Ibom For Selling Baby For N300,000

The General overseer of a Pentecostal church in Akwa Ibom state identified as Pastor John and his wife, Deborah pictured above have been arrested by the Akwa Ibom state police command for allegedly kidnapping a new born baby with the intent of selling him to a child trafficking syndicate at Nung Ukot Itam, Itu LGA of the state for N300,000. Confessing to the crime, Pastor John said “We have the mission to train children nd suddenly we changed our mind, when my wife and I ventured into selling of a new baby for N200,000.00 or N300,000.00 since we have a syndicate who could sell it for us’’he said.
The police say he will soon be charged to court. In a related development, the state police have arrested one lady simply identified as Sabbath for selling her 5 day old baby for N90, 000. Sabbath gave birth to a set of twins and decided to sell one of them, blaming it on poverty.
When interrogated, she said ‘It was poverty that led me into this mess. It is true that I sold one of my twins for N90,000.00 to Mr Akpanam and Mr Samuel to be able to train the other baby. My husband’s family should forgive me for what I have done, it was poverty that led me into this’ she said.

Toke Makinwa advocates against Tribalism, recounts a personal experience

What the media personality shared on instagram this morning concerning tribal differences... 'There is so much to say on this topic, it is heartbreaking but real. Tribalism has been and is still been practiced today. Lagos is home for everyone, our generation knows better too. Let's not let this come in between us, the OBA's statement was ignorant but do we really blame him? We all at some point in our lives have been on the receiving end of acts of tribalism. Let's take out the tension and be real with each-other. Our parents generation practiced tribalism openly and they were not corrected. In some homes befriending people from other tribes was frowned on, marrying from another tribe is still being frowned on today, tribalism even from people of the same tribe is real too. What we need is to educate and not instigate. I had Igbo friends growing up, I was the only Yoruba girl in the midst of Igbo girls. Did they make fun of me? Sometimes but it wasn't out of malice. We lived, we loved and we are still very close. I have had a friend's mum tell me "haaa omo ondo ni e? Mi o mo ooo, a kin ba ondo sore" meaning - I'm from Ondo? She didn't know....
If she had, she won't let her daughter befriend me cos they don't like Ondo people, Ondo and Ijebu don't mix...
I was shocked. She went ahead and said "You Ondo people are wicked". My friend is from Ijebu ooooo, we are both Yoruba girls and that statement was made by her mum. We are still friends today and her mum got over it. Please educate people around you. Vote who you want, vote your conscience but please stop with the tribalism comments. Our beauty is in our diversity. It is a distraction, don't fall for it. Let's all live as one.'

Hackers hit ATMs in Lagos, device means to collect pins & ATM card data

ATMs located in highbrow areas in Lagos particularly in Victoria Island and Lekki, might have been compromised following reports of hackers planting fraud devices on some machines so as to get the pin codes and other details of the ATM cards of unsuspecting users and use them to carry out fraudulent activities.
A banker who spoke with Punch said "A number of the ATMs in Victoria Island and Lekki axis have been compromised by hackers. Some of these fraudsters visit those ATMs very late in the night or very early in the morning to fix some fraud devices on them, which are capable of collecting cardholders’ information, including their passwords. They come back later to remove those devices.
The information collected is then used to commit fraud against those customers later. Most of us (banks) are aware of the development and we are very vigilant now. What some of us have done is to get a patrol team of security men to start combing the affected areas and the ATMs from time to time. We will get those guys soon.” the anonymous banker said
Also confirming the report, the Vice-Chairman, Committee of e-Banking Industry Heads, Mr. Dele Adeyinka said banks have recently installed anti-skimming devices on their ATMs so as to checkmate such illicit activities. “Yes, it is true that hackers are carrying out those activities. It is not only in Victoria Island axis, they are doing it everywhere. But all the banks have complied with the CBN directive on anti-fraud tools. So, it will be difficult for those fraud devices to work.”he said
While some of the cardholders’ information collected by the fraudsters were being used to commit online-related frauds locally, a large number was used to clone ATM cards and used to shop in malls abroad, especially in the US. As a way to checkmate the activities of these fraudsters, the Central Bank of Nigeria in January this year issued a directive to all Nigerian banks to prevent payment cards (debit and credit) issued by them from working in fraud-prone countries, including the US, South Africa and China and that they would be liable for any fraudulent transaction carried out in those countries using a customers cloned ATM card. The CBN in another circular released on February 1, 2015, instructed all Nigerian banks to stop the payment/ATM cards from working in non-Europay, MasterCard and Visa countries. The circular stated that ATM cards that would work in designated countries must be activated only during the period the customer would be spending outside Nigeria. The circular which was signed by the Director, Banking and Payment System, CBN, Mr. Dipo Fatokun, reads in part, “The occurrence of card present frauds in non-EMV environments is on the increase, especially when international hybrid cards issued by Nigerian banks are used in non-EMV environments like the USA. It has, therefore, become necessary for the CBN to issue the following directives and that all DMBs should do the following: collate all their card frauds abroad and send to the CBN not later than January 30, 2015; subsequently, all data on card frauds occurring abroad should be rendered on the NIBSS fraud portal; implement anti-fraud solution on their card management systems not later than January 30, 2015; ensure that from February 1, 2015, only customers that expressly indicated the intention of travelling to non-EMV jurisdictions would have their cards default to the magnetic stripe and for the period indicated by the cardholder only.”

Any who wants to impeach me, should no that he can impeach God, Gov Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state says for anyone to successfully impeach him, they would have to impeach God first. Gov. Fayose said this during an audience participatory programme; 'Meet Your Governor' aired on the State Television, EKTV, Ekiti Radio, Progress FM and NTA, Ado Ekiti today April 6th. "I’m like Israel that is in the midst of enemies but will always prevail. Whoever wants to remove me will first have to impeach God. They are doing all these just to get at me because of my support for President Jonathan and I have no regret for supporting the president. Let me say it again, I have not been served any impeachment notice. The House of Assembly is also on recess and Dr Adewale Omirin is not the speaker of the State House of Assembly. Omirin is in court, challenging his impeachment and he can’t be challenging his impeachment in court and at the same time laying claim to being Speaker.” he said.

GMB!! We feared Jonathan might decleared a coup, instead he acept defeat.

The APC said when they found out they'd won the election, they feared that Pres. Jonathan would reject the result and invent a military intervention to stop Buhari from being president but were surprised when, not only did Pres. Jonathan concede defeat, but called Buhari to congratulate him. This was something the APC didn't expect and would be forever grateful to Jonathan for... The Director, Media and Publicity Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Organization, Mallam Garba Shehu, talked to Vanguard about APC's surprise on GEJ's phenomenal move... “I can say that the President acted with grace. He surprised us because we never expected that they would accept defeat. In fact, the sense everyone had was that they probably had plan A, B, C or D. And in any case, with the kind of thing that Mr. Orubebe did at the collation center, you knew that even when the President had grace, given the chance with the community of people around him, they could have threatened this democracy. “Look, I have been involved in presidential campaigns about three or four times in the past, the difference is that this is the most fearful campaign that I have ever experienced. This is the most life threatening campaign because we were dealing with opponents we thought would stop at nothing because they were throwing everything into it. So, we were not taking anything for granted. It affected our lives. Would you see me in a night club? You couldn’t risk it because you didn’t even know who was trailing you. And it came as a huge relief. “Again, we were getting security reports from our own sources. Until the President said ‘I concede’ and congratulated Buhari, we felt every minute that something wrong would happen. There was a clear and discernible threat to democracy as a system of government. “Look, everyone felt concerned because, what if, God forbid, he declared a coup? These scenarios had been laid before Nigerians. Mr. Okupe, the Special Adviser to the President, was he not on Youtube, recorded on video, saying that Buhari will never become President? What do you take that for? It means that Buhari would win and they will take it away from him. “This careless talk, arrogant display of power, it had come from the Villa. Many sources with linkages to power: Asari-Dokubo, Chief E.K. Clark and all of them, were they not sounding words to the President? They had said it that they would take away their part of the country from Nigeria if Buhari won.
“But for the President to have come and say ‘I accept defeat as the leader of the country’; that had an effect of really calming things down. And that’s why, whether they like it or not, President Jonathan has written his name in gold in so far as this is concerned.” Shehu said. He then assured that the Buhari would not avenge the attacks on his person by the allies of Jonathan, saying there was enough work to do to meet the aspirations of Nigerians than pursuing mundane things.

Acrobatics in Makurdi In Makurdi, Vanguard learned that the victims were among youths in Wadata and North Bank area, who since the announcement of the election results, had been engaged in dangerous acrobatic displays with their motorbikes around the town. The Drama In Aso Rock After Presidential Election Result

When Orubebe took to the floor yesterday to disrupt proceedings at the Collation centre, I feared for the worst. Just imagine what would have happened if one or two of the security men had forcefully tried to remove him. He would have fought them off, the other PDP agents would have come to his defense and the police would have been called in to remove everyone using teargas. That would have been the end of it. In the ensuing melee, the result sheets would have disappeared and all hell would have broke loose. State of emergency would have been declared and we would be talking about elections in two years time or more depending on how subsequent events panned out. I don't even want to imagine the pogroms that would have ensued? In 1962, the case of disruption of proceedings in the Western Region House of Assembly led to the state of emergency which led to the January 1966 coup and this lead to the northern counter-coup and eventually the tragic civil war. Yesterday, Godsday Orubebe nearly threw Nigeria into such a turmoil again but President Goodluck Jonathan averted it. What transpired in the Presidential Villa was this: when the outcome of the election began to turn against President Goodluck Jonathan, many Hawks in government and in PDP started pressurizing him to step in and turn the tide via manipulation and State power. He refused. I know someone who knelt down with tearful eyes asking him to act like an African President and jettison this European idea of gentlemanism. PGEJ refused to intervene. When President Jonathan's attention was drawn to what Orubebe was doing on TV, he quickly asked one of his aide to get him General Buhari immediately on the phone. Contrary to reports that GEJ was watching the programme, the man left others to watch it and went to sleep. The trending picture of him with Abdusalami purportedly watching the event is a big hoax. That picture was taken during the peace-accord drive of Gen. Abdulsalami before the election. President Jonathan quickly called Gen. Buhari to congratulate him even before the collation officially ended because he wanted to pull the sail on the antics of his Hawkish supporters. If he hadn't done that they would have used his influence to do something foolish. It was Okonjo Iweala that called President Jonathan to intimate him of Orubebe's actions. I have been battling tears ever since I learnt what happened. If only Nigerians knew that many Hawkish PDP stalwart and top government officers stormed out angrily on this humble President when they learnt he had called Gen. Buhari to concede defeat, claiming that he betrayed them. One Northern ally of his even called him weak. That call was what saved the day. Orubebe was told of the call and he quietly walked away, allowing collation proceedings to continue. GEJ made that call to Buhari around 16:15 hours. Only the Doves remained with President Jonathan. Many of the Hawks are still not speaking to him even now. General Abdulsalami and other African Statesmen were still pondering how to douse the expected mayhem and they placed a call to Gen. Buhari to plead with him to restrain his supporters and to tell him they were preparing to go and meet President Jonathan to call his Hawkish associates to order when Gen. Buhari told them not to bother that PGEJ has already called him and conceded defeat. Everyone was stunned beyond word.
