Cult Clash, 7 Killed, 10 House Razed In Benue State

There was a clash between two rival cult groups in Agboul community of Makurdi, the Benue State capital yesterday, killing seven persons and about 10 houses razed in the process. LEADERSHIP reports that the Agboul metropolis has been under cult and communal clashes for quite some time and the situation escalated yesterday because of disagreement that ensued between the rival cult groups. Two traditional rulers were also matcheted as a result. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ezeala, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, yesterday said the clash occurred between unknown cult groups. Ezeala said men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), and that of the operation Zenda ,have been deployed to the affected area to maintain law and order. However, it was gathered that trouble erupted when a girlfriend of one of the members of the rival cult was approached by another and she blatantly agreed to the relationship. The situation angered the opposite cult which sparked the crisis. Leadership 29/7/14
